Digital Elevation Models
(DEMs) provide a unique description
of our environment
in 3 dimensions. A DEM file
is a simple, regularly
spaced grid of elevation points over a topographic surface.
PlanetObserver presents a new Digital Elevation Model (DEM), entirely reprocessed and offering a global coverage, with a 90m resolution, that gives you highly detailed information on the environment.
Combined with PlanetObserver satellite images, this reference terrain dataset is best adapted to create high quality 3D views, perfect for all simulation and geolocation solutions.
NEW
: DEM of the Alps at 30m now available !
90m Digital Elevation ModelPlanetObserver 90m DEM is derived from SRTM dataset (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission), version 4.1, combined with other source data (GDEM Global Digital Elevation Model, cartographic data, etc.).
The above map shows, in dark colour, SRTM data coverage, and in light colour, corrected data that have been added beyond 56° North latitude and 60° South latitude, and in many other relief areas (Alps, Himalayas, Andes, etc.) in order to offer global reliable information.
PlanetObserver has compiled and extensively reprocessed those data in order to offer a comprehensive global DEM with precise, corrected and detailed information for the entire Earth.
